Psychotherapy Services
Dr. Kaskel provides psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, that is tailored to each client’s unique needs. Her work is grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, which guides how past experiences shape present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Treatment is collaborative, goal-oriented, and focused on fostering meaningful, lasting change.

Dr. Kaskel uses an assimilative-integrated framework, allowing sessions to be flexible, individualized, and responsive to each client’s goals, strengths, and challenges.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy rooted in the AIP model, which posits that psychological distress results when traumatic or highly disturbing experiences are inadequately processed before being stored in the brain, resulting in strong negative emotions, anxiety, or unhealthy beliefs. EMDR helps individuals access and reprocess these distressing memories in a controlled and safe therapeutic setting. By facilitating the brain’s natural ability to integrate memories, individuals experience a reduction in the intensity of negative emotions, physical sensations, and maladaptive beliefs associated with past experiences. Although EMDR was initially developed for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), research supports its effectiveness for a broad range of conditions, including anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship difficulties, and certain behavioral challenges. Many people find that EMDR not only reduces distressing symptoms, but also helps them develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. Over time, this can lead to greater emotional resilience and improved overall functioning in daily life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented psychotherapy that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It operates on the principle that unhelpful or distorted thinking patterns contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. By identifying and challenging these patterns, individuals can develop more realistic and healthier ways of thinking. Through structured exercises and practical application, CBT helps individuals learn strategies to manage stress, regulate emotions, solve problems, and improve daily functioning. It has demonstrated efficacy for numerous mental health conditions. Beyond reducing symptoms, CBT provides tools they can use long after therapy ends, helping them feel more in control and confident in navigating life’s challenges.
Client-Centered Therapy
Client-centered therapy emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. It provides a supportive environment in which clients can explore their experiences without judgment. The therapist follows the client’s lead while fostering insight and growth. This approach is helpful for individuals seeking emotional support, personal growth, or increased self-understanding. It can benefit children, adolescents, and adults. Client-centered therapy is often integrated with other therapeutic approaches. Dr. Kaskel incorporates client-centered principles into all of her work. She values collaboration and respects each client’s autonomy. Therapy is paced thoughtfully and guided by the client’s needs.
Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy
Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on emotional connection and attachment within relationships. It helps couples identify negative interaction patterns and to develop more secure emotional bonds. EFT emphasizes understanding one another’s emotional needs and fostering responsiveness. EFT is beneficial for couples experiencing conflict, emotional disconnection, trust issues, or major life transitions. It is appropriate for couples at various stages of their relationship. The approach supports lasting relational change. Dr. Kaskel is trained in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and brings a compassionate, structured approach to her work with couples. She helps partners develop emotional insight and strengthen communication. Her work supports healthier, more secure relationships.
